Why I’m Not Doing Keto Anymore

If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you’ve probably noticed a lot of keto content here. Think 11 Delicious Low Carb Keto Breakfast Muffins or Top 10 Best Keto Air Fryer Recipes. There’s also keto ice cream and a whole keto shopping guide. That was a real part of my life. But I’m not doing keto anymore, and I’ve been wanting to talk about why.

Why I Started

Honestly, it wasn’t some dramatic health scare or doctor’s recommendation. I started keto because I thought it was healthy. It was everywhere, it sounded like “the smart way to eat,” and I bought into that completely. And for a while, it made sense to me cutting carbs felt like a clear, structured way to eat “right.”

Why I Stopped

Here’s the honest truth: it’s not that keto “failed” me or that I have some big takedown of it. It just stopped aligning with how I actually want to eat. Somewhere along the way, I realized something. I wasn’t choosing foods because they made me feel good. I was choosing them because they fit a set of rules. And after a year and a half of that, I was just tired of eating that way.

I wanted food to feel simple again. I didn’t want food sorted into “allowed” and “not allowed” anymore. I really just wanted it to feel nourishing, in whatever form that took on a given day.

What I’m Doing Instead

These days, I’m not following any particular diet at all. I’m just trying to eat things that make me feel good, without assigning a label to it. Some days that looks like a big protein-packed breakfast. Other days it’s whatever’s easiest, or just something I’m in the mood for. I’m more interested in nourishment than restriction now. I want food that supports how I want to feel, not food that fits inside a set of macros.

This is honestly a big part of why this blog is shifting too. You’ll still see recipes here, but I won’t filter them through a “low-carb” or “keto-friendly” lens anymore. I’m also leaning more into the wellness and beauty side of things I’ve genuinely gotten into. Think supplements I actually use, skincare I’ve tested, and wellness practices I’ve looked into. I’m bringing the same honesty here that I bring to everything else.

If You’re Still Doing Keto Genuinely, No Judgment

I want to be really clear about this part if keto is working for you right now, that’s completely valid. This post isn’t me telling you to stop. This is just my own shift, from my own experience over the past year and a half. What stopped working for me isn’t a verdict on what works for you.

What’s Next

I’m keeping all my old keto recipes up on the blog they’re still useful for anyone who wants them. I’m proud of that content, even though I’ve personally moved on. Going forward, you can expect more variety here. You’ll find honest reviews of the products I actually use, and deeper dives into wellness practices. There’s also food content that’s about feeling good, rather than following rules.

Thanks for sticking with me through this shift more honest posts like this one are coming.
